Kodai Mountain Garlic/Malai poondu (KMG) is derived from the Kodaikanal Mountains. Due to the high altitude and geographical situation, the soil, air, and water of this region are naturally organic. During ancient times, mountaineers used to gulp Kodai Mountain Garlic to raise their energy levels, to keep peripheral circulation intact, increase oxygen capacity, and detoxify the body in extremely cold weather. Very few stunted plants can survive in such a snowy area. Kodai Mountain Garlic is one of them. It is the most unique herb on Earth as it can only be grown successfully into a full plant in the snow of the Kodaikanal hills at 7,000 feet above sea level, where oxygen is much less. This species has the ability to survive in very little oxygen and in an extremely cold environment. When spring arrives, the melting snow provides more than adequate water for enhanced plant maturity. Thus, the garlic bulb contains water/liquid from Kodaikanal snow in its purest natural form.
